Escort HUD 2.2 Documentation
New - version 2.2 adds the ability to work in no-script areas
1.0 Overview of Features
The HUD is customizable and copiable so you can put a copy in every outfit you own! Easy to use and
packed with features that every escort needs all the time! Things that no other gadget in Second Life can
provide!!! Features like:
Automated Payment Qualifier: The HUD will scan around you at a user configurable range and interval
and will tell you the Second Life Payment Status of other players around you, so you know who has set up
a credit card with Linden Labs, and consequently, who will have the best chance of being able to pay for
your services. No more having to check profiles to see who is a viable customer! No more time wasters
chatting you up and then not having money! A sound alert can be activated to notify you when a report has
been posted to your communications window. Every fifteen minutes the HUD will update the reports,
reminding you of any customers still in the area. Just like having your own Second Life Credit Bureau!
Automated Notecard and Picture giver: Drop your own escort notecard and pictures into the HUD, then
just touch the "Give Items" button on the hud, then choose which item to deliver on the popup menu...then,
to make it even simpler...choose the persons name from the next menu! The HUD constantly senses who is
around you and populates the menu with the names of the 12 closest avatars! No more searching your
inventory to find your price list or photos, no more dragging and dropping! Just three clicks and they have
your information!!!
The Text Chatterbox: Every escort spends time typing the same things over and over again, every time
they work. The same types of compliments, the same price quotes, the same deal closing phrases. Why
type them dozens of times , when you can program them into the the Text Chatterbox Settings card in the
Escort HUD and "say" them to your clients at the touch of a button? Program in up to 72 custom things to
say to your customers! Simple to program, simple to use, save your fingers and your time!
The Audio Chatterbox: The HUD will activate 30+ pre-configured sound files. You have everything from
moans to naughty to NASTY sound files at the touch of a menu button...that both you and your client can
hear! Not only that...but you can add your own personal sound files too!!!
AutoKeying: When you unpack the Escort HUD into your inventory, it will automatically key itself to
YOUR name, so that the Text Chatterbox chat will appear to be coming from you, not the Escort HUD. Just
another of the ways our wizards anticipated the escorts needs!
The local radar: A floating text radar that tells you the distance to the closest avatars around you. The
radar hovers over the HUD and can be toggled on and off with a touch!
Poses: Up to 50 poses may be loaded into the HUD and selected at the press of a button. No more
standing around at the mercy of your AO's cycling—you chose how your body will communicate with
prospective clients.
Dances: You can now load up to 50 dances into the HUD. With the click of a button you choose the
choreography that suits your mood, location and music.
Countdown Timer: This is the perfect tool for every escort. With a mouse-click you set the time interval,
and with another you start the timer. A display replaces the radar and when only five minutes remains, the
text turns yellow. When time's up, you get a notification in your communications box and the radar returns.
The timer can even be paused or turned off altogether through the HUD.
Tip Jar: Select Tip Jar from the main menu and a beautiful cut-crystal brandy snifter appears with your
name hovering above it. When someone tips you, their name and the amount of the tip appears, along with
a running total tips to that point. If you wander away from the jar for thirty second, it will self-destruct after
warning you.
Toys: The Escort HUD contains a notecard with a voluminous supply of adult toys imbedded in it. Bring
the notecard up, copy the items to your inventory, and have fun.
Hide-a-HUD: click on the round "Escort HUD" button at the top of the HUD, and the resulting menu lets
you Hide the HUD, or Show it simply by selecting the appropriate button. All functions still work even if the
HUD is minimized.
2.0 Quick Setup
2.1 Package Contents: When you rezzed the package containing the Escort HUD, the hover text told you
to touch the box to unpack it into your inventory. It created a folder in your inventory named "Temporal
Gadgets~Escort HUD". In this folder you will find the Escort HUD 2.0 and this notecard. Attach the Escort
HUD to a HUD location on your screen by right clicking (open-apple click on a Mac) it in your inventory and
choosing "Attach to HUD". You will be given a menu of locations to attach the HUD. Once the HUD is visible
on your screen, you may right click it (open-apple click on a Mac), choose edit from the round menu, and
using the edit arrows, position it where you wish. It is important that the HUD be worn on a HUD position,
not on a body part to function correctly.
2.15 Hide-a-HUD: There are no user configurable features for Hide-a-HUD. Clicking the "Escort HUD"
button will deploy a menu. Choose "Hide HUD" to reduce the HUD to that one button alone. Choose "Show
HUD" to reveal the whole HUD.
2.2 The Radar: The only user configurable feature for the Radar function, is that it may be toggled on and
off. All other functionality is automatic. Note: when the Countdown Timer is in use, the radar display will
not be visible. If the Timer is paused, the time remaining still still be displayed. Only if "Timer OFF" is
selected will the radar list reappear.
2.3 Give Items: Give items is designed to allow you to load notecards, photos and textures to the Escort
HUD so that you can distribute them to your clients. You may load up to 12 items into the Escort HUD. To
load the HUD, just wear the HUD on a HUD position. Right click (open-apple click on a Mac) the HUD and
choose edit from the round menu. When the edit window opens, choose the contents tab from the edit
window, then drag your photos, textures, and notecards to the contents window. Close the edit window,
then click on the menu button and choose reset.
2.4 Menu: There are no user configurable features in the menu button. The menu button is the location
from which a user accesses Dances, Poses, Toys and the Tip Jar. The Sensor button will toggle the
Automatic Payment qualifier on and off. The Stop Anim button will kill current animantions. Sound on and
Sound off buttons will turn the sound alerts on and off. The reset button is used to configure the HUD for
both the items given out and the audio clips to be played. The Help button will send you to our webpage for
the lastest instructions and updates. The Ignore button will make the menu vanish.
2.5 Audio Chatterbox: The Audio Chatterbox feature activates any sound file added to the contents of the
Escort HUD. You may have a total of 72 sound files in the contents of the Escort HUD. To add your own
sound files, right click (open-apple click on a Mac) on the HUD while wearing it, and choose edit from the
round menu, then open the contents tab of the edit window, and drag the sound files from your inventory to
the HUD's contents. Exit the edit, and reset the HUD if it does not do it automatically.
2.6 Text Chatterbox: To setup the Text Chatterbox in the Escort HUD, right click on the HUD while
wearing it, and choose Edit from the round menu. In the contents tab of the edit window, you will find a
notecard named "*Text Chatterbox Settings". Double click this notecard to open it for editing. You will note
that the card has lines of text on it in the following format:
<buttonname>|<Text to chat to a customer>
The buttonname section of the entry is what will show on the Text Chatterbox menu. The text following
the | is what will be said by the HUD when you touch that menu button. (The | character is shift-backslash,
and appears above the RETURN key on most keyboards.)
Some sample entries have been made for you. You may edit these and add more. You may enter up to 72
text chatterbox items to say to a client. Add each item to its own separate line on the notecard. Do not leave
any blank spaces at the front or the end of each line. Note: each line can only be about fifty words long
(two and a third lines long on a notecarde this width). If you entire statement does not appear, edit for
brevity or turn it into two statements.
After you have edited the *Text Chatterbox Settings notecard, save it, and then reset the hud from the
menu button. (The reset process may take a couple minutes.)
2.7 Automated Payment Qualifier: The configuration on the Automated Payment Qualifier is very simple
and is accomplished by editing the description box of the HUD itself. Right click (open-apple click on the
Mac) the HUD and choose edit from the round menu. This will open the edit window for the HUD. In the
description box on the General tab, you will see something like "50:3"...this means that the payment
qualifier's range is set to 50 meters, and will scan every 3 seconds. You may edit these numbers to change
the range and scan interval. The maximum range is 96 meters, and the minimum scan interval is 2 seconds
which would be entered as "96:2". After setting the range and interval of the Payment Qualifier, exit edit,
click the Menu button on the HUD and choose reset.
The Automatic Payment Qualifier will play a sound if you choose to turn sound on (the default setting is
off). To activate sound, click on the "Escort HUD" button. From the drop-down menu, chose "Sound On." If
you wish to turn the sound off, click on the "Escort HUD" button. From the drop-down menu, chose "Sound
Off."
NOTE: there is an issue in Second Life that will sometimes cause sounds from an object to play when
they are not actually triggered. If you experience this problem, you may wish to keep the sound on your
HUD turned off.
Names will be redisplayed every 15 minute on the Payment Qualifier if the detected avatar is still within
range, as a reminder for customers who may still be in the area.
2.8 Business Tools
2.82 Tip Jar: A tip jar is included with the Escort HUD. There is nothing about the tip jar itself that is
modifiable by the owner.
Select "Tip Jar" from the main menu (which is opened from the Menu button at the bottom of the HUD).
The tip jar will self-configure itself, with the owner's name and total of tips in hovertext above the tip jar.
When a tip is placed in the jar, the hovertext display changes to show the amount of the last tip and the
name of the person who made the donation. An automatic message goes from you to the person who made
the tip, thanking them.
Tips go immediately to the tip jar's owner. (There's not actually money in the jar, so it can't be stolen or
lost if the jar disappears or the owner is disconnected.)
The tip jar will self-delete if the owner moves 50 meters away from it for more than 30 seconds. Before it
self-deletes, the device warns the owner. The tip jar is copiable so another tip jar can always be rezzed. (A
street performer could rez several tip jars so as he performs (streaming music or through voice) anyone
who can hear him would find a convenient tip jar nearby.)
2.84 Countdown Timer: A Countdown timer is available from the menu in the top button on the HUD. To
start the timer, a time must be selected from the "Timer Menu" button. Once an interval is selected, the
timer will start. The timer will count down to 0:00, and the text will change from white to yellow after it
reached the 5:00 minute mark.
To pause the timer, Click on the top button and choose "Timer Stop" from the menu. "Timer Start" will
start the clock running again. "Timer Off" will wipe the time interval out.
If the radar was turned on already, the radar display will be temporarily turned off while the Countdown
timer is running. Once the timer has counted down to 0:00, the radar will start displaying again.
If sounds have been set to "on" for the HUD through the main menu, the timer will give a notification
sound when it reaches zero. This sound is turned off by default.
2.86 Toys: The Escort HUD provides a trove of sex-toys and animations. Click the Menu button at the
bottom of the display and choose "Toys." You will be offered a notecard which has a number of prim items
in it. Click on any item and you will be offered the option of copying said item into your inventory. If you
chose to do so, it may be found under "Objects" in your inventory. Right click (open-apple click on the Mac)
that item and choose "wear" to deploy the device.
The notecard also includes a number of animations. Rez the box of animations, choose the ones you
want and drag them into your animations folder in your inventory. From there, transfer them to the HUD by
dragging them into it. Configuring the HUD to use them is covered immediately below.
2.9 Animations: Using the Dance and Pose animations is easy - simply hit the Menu button, choose
Dances or Poses button from the blue menu, then select the specific pose or dance you wish to use from
the appropriate menus.
2.92 Dances: Dance animations may now be put into the Escort HUD. Simply drag your choice of up to 50
animations into the HUD (they will go into the root), and configure the "*Dances" notecard to include on
each line the dance animation title (which will appear on the menu button) and the dance animation name
(as it appears in your inventory). They should be formatted as follows, separated by a comma (example):
Club 1,Club Dance 1 (looped)
Once you've made the changes to the notecard and have dragged the animations into the HUD, save the
notecard and, from the Menu button, choose Reset. (The reset process may take a couple minutes.)
Be careful if using no-copy animations, since they could be lost if you put them into your ESCORT HUD
and then delete that HUD.
You may stop any animation by clicking on Menu and choosing the "Stop Anim" button. (Alternately,
under the client's World menu, choose "Stop All Animations.")
2.94 Poses: Poses may now be put into the Escort HUD. Poses are actually single-framed animations.
Simply drag your choice of up to 50 pose animations into the HUD (they will go into the root), and configure
the "*Poses" notecard to include on each line the pose animation title (which will appear on the menu
button) and the pose animation name (as it appears in your inventory). They should be formatted as
follows, separated by a comma (example):
Model 1, supermodel_pose_1
Once you've made the changes to the notecard and have dragged the animations into the HUD, save the
notecard and, from the Menu button, choose Reset. (The reset process may take a couple minutes.)
Be careful if using no-copy animations, since they could be lost if you put them into your ESCORT HUD
and then delete that HUD.
You may stop any animation by clicking on Menu and choosing the "Stop Anim" button. (Alternately,
under the client's World menu, choose "Stop All Animations.")
3.0 HUD Use
3.1 Using Multiple Copies: The Escort HUD may be copied so you can include it with any outfit. Simply
place a copy of the Escort HUD in the outfit folder and it is ready for use. [?Separate copies may be
configured differently with sounds and poses, so a Gorean Slave outfit could have one set of poses, etc.,
while a cocktail dress could have a different set.?]
3.15 Hide-a-HUD: Click on the round "Escort HUD" on top of the HUD. From the blue menu choose "Hide
HUD" or "Show HUD" to minimize or maximize the HUD.
3.2 The Radar: The radar in the Escort HUD is automatic, it will begin running when the HUD is attached
to a HUD position. You may toggle the radar display on and off by clicking the "Radar" button on the HUD.
3.3 Give Items: The "Give Items" button is very simple to use, merely touch the button on the HUD. This
will give you a menu that has buttons for each Notecard and Photo that you loaded into the HUD in step
2.3. Touch the button for which item you wish to give. This will in turn, give you another menu with the
names of the 12 closest avatars. Just click the button with the name of the person you wish to give the
notecard or photo to, and it is delivered to them.
3.4 Menu: The "Menu" button gives you the ability to Reset the HUD after editing a notecard, or adding
files to the HUD. It also allows you to toggle on and off the Payment Qualifier feature by hitting the
"Sensor" button. Choosing "Help" will send you to our website where you can check out the device's
manual. "Sound On" and "Sound Off" toggles the alert sounds for the HUD. "Toys" will produce the
notecard with all the toys on it. "Tip Jar" will deploy a tip jar. "Poses" and "Dances" will deploy menus
giving you access to all the dances and poses you've added into the HUD. "Stop Anim" will stop any
animations you're running.
3.5 Audio Chatterbox: Using the Audio Chatterbox is very simple. Just touch the Audio Chatterbox
button on the HUD, and choose a sound from the menu. There are several menu "pages," and each one has
a "next" button as well, to allow you to find the sound file you want to use. Familiarize yourself with the
various factory installed sounds, and any personal sound files you installed yourself.
3.6 Text Chatterbox: Again, this feature is very simple to use. Just click on the Text Chatterbox button on
the HUD and choose what you want to say. It will appear in text just as if you had typed it and said it in chat,
the only difference being that it will appear in green text. This is a function of Second Life, that all chat
coming from an object shows up in green text.
3.7 Automated Payment Qualifier: The Payment Qualifier runs automatically. You may disable this feature
temporarily, if you choose not to receive this data about people around you, by going to the Menu button of
the HUD and clicking on the Sensor menu button. This will toggle on and off the Payment Qualifier.
3.8 Business Tools
3.82 Tip Jar: Click on the Menu button and choose Tip Jar from the blue menu. The Jar will deploy
automatically in front of your current location. It will automatically collect tips, notify you that you've been
tipped, and thank the person who makes the donation. (It's always good business to follow that thanks with
one of your own.) The Jar will automatically delete itself if you move away 50 meters from it for longer than
30 seconds. You will be warned before it deletes itself. Payment to you is automatic and immediate.
3.84 Countdown Timer: Click on the "Escort Hud" button and choose Timer Menu. Choose a time interval
to be counted down. Once you make the selection, the time will replace the radar function, hovering above
the HUD. When the timer hits five minutes, the text will turn yellow. When time is up, an alarm will sound (if
you have sound active) and the radar readout will return (if radar is on).
The "Timer Start" and "Timer Stop" buttons will stop and start the clock. "Timer Off" will wipe the time
interval out. When the time is cleared, the radar readout will return.
3.86 Toys: Click on the Menu button. From the notecard you're given, choose the desired items and copy
them to your inventory. You will find them in your Objects folder within your inventory. Right click (open-
apple click on the Mac) on the item and choose "Wear" to add the item. To get rid of an item, right click
(open-apple click on the Mac) on it and choose "Detach" to remove the item.
3.9 Animations
3.92 Dances: Click on the Menu button. From the blue menu, choose Dances. From the next blue menu,
choose the dance you wish to use. To change dances or to stop dancing, click on the Menu button and
choose "Stop Anim."
3.94 Poses: Click on the Menu button. From the blue menu, choose Poses. From the next blue menu,
choose the pose you wish to use. To change your pose or to stop posing, click on the Menu button and
choose "Stop Anim."
4.0 Troubleshooting
4.1 When attaching the HUD for use, choose a position that is not already populated by another HUD
attachment.
4.2 The HUD MUST be worn on a HUD position.
4.3 Add-on limitations: The HUD has a maximum number of items it can handle effectively. The limits are:
sounds: 70
dances: 50
poses: 50
text chat: 70
notecard: 12
textures: 12
If the HUD cannot distribute items:
4.4 Poses/Dances/Text does not show up in the menu: Check the appropriate notecards to make sure the
items are formatted exactly as mentioned above. Double-check the names of all animations to make sure
they match exactly. Once that has been done, and the corrected notecards have been saved, click on the
Menu button and, from the blue menu, select "Reset." The reset may take a couple of minutes, so be
patient. Resetting the device will make all these items available.
4.5 The HUD has vanished from my screen: The video by Torley Linden on how to retrieve a HUD that has
gone off your screen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Viksbg-juw4 covers how best to find your missing
HUD. (Usually the vanishing HUD is due to the screen widow being resized. Fairly often, if you enlarge the
window, you'll find a piece of the HUD. Right click (open-apple click on the Mac) on the device and use the
location arrows to reposition it in your window.
4.6 Random Weirdness
4.61 Sounds play at odd times: Second Life occasionally will cause devices to play sounds at
inappropriate moments. To prevent this, the default state for the HUD is to have Sound Off. If you have
toggled Sound On, switch it back off by hitting the Escort HUD button and choosing "Sound Off" from the
blue menu.
4.62 Names appear on my radar screen at ridiculously far ranges: Second Life occasionally allows you to
see people outside the device's range and outside the region you're in. There is nothing than can be (or
needs to be) done about this problem. (In fact, it's a fun way of finding new people out there.)
As always, clicking the Menu button and choosing the Help button now will send you to our Help Page
on our website. This allows us to keep the manual for this product updated.
